Sapphires in Silver Pebble Necklace

These stunning Sapphires are 'cast in place' in the Sterling Silver in the shape of a Pebble from Granite Bay, in the Noosa National Park. Cast in place is a technique used with casting, but in this particular case - Sand Casting. The Sapphires are placed in the mould, and then the molten metal is poured into the mould, flowing around the Sapphires and locking them in place.
This pendant is made with 100% recycled metal, and it is made from start to finish in my home studio. No two pendants will ever be the same - the design might stay the same, but the process is such that there will always be tiny details that are completely unique.
Sapphires and Diamonds are the only gemstones that can really withstand the heat that the Cast in Place process requires. In the case of this pebble pendant, I have used Grey Sapphires, Green Sapphires and Blue Sapphires.
The design is inspired by a pebble I picked up on a walk in the Noosa National Park to Granite Bay, one of my favourite spots. Because it is the policy of the National Park that you should leave no trace and take nothing with you, I just sat down and sketched the curves and shapes of the pebble, and then designed this pendant in that exact shape.

Care information
We recommend you take your jewellery off when you are bathing, showering, cooking, cleaning, gardening, exercising and swimming. Lifting heavy objects (such as when gardening and exercising) can cause the rings to change shape.
Please do not spray perfume directly onto necklaces or chains. Sterling Silver naturally oxidises and tarnishes over time. You can either send your pieces in for a polish and a clean, or wipe it with a green dish sponge to get that nice matt silver look again.
